On December 27th, a major milestone was reached in the development of smart cities in China. The first intelligent urban operation management platform was officially completed and launched for trial operations. Over 200 guests from regions such as Guizhou, Ningxia, Fuzhou, Guiyang, and Jiaxing witnessed the launch and observed live demonstrations of the platform’s capabilities. This center is designed to be a comprehensive system that integrates big data, urban planning, integrated management, and emergency response. It serves as the core intelligence hub for urban operations, supporting decision-making at all levels and enhancing the efficiency of city management. By leveraging advanced computing resources and accessing data from e-government platforms, telecom operators, and internet companies, the center aims to create a unified view of the city’s operations, enabling real-time monitoring, predictive analysis, and rapid response to incidents. Shenzhen has positioned itself as a leader in smart city innovation, with the city operation management center playing a central role in its strategic vision. Deputy Mayor Chen Hao expressed strong support for the project, emphasizing the need for greater data sharing, exploring new service models, and maximizing the benefits of the platform. He also encouraged continued collaboration between the government and private sector to achieve Shenzhen’s goal of becoming a world-class innovative city. China Electric Power Group’s Chairman Xiong Qunli highlighted the importance of the center in advancing urban management, digital economy, and public services. He mentioned that the platform would gradually expand its services to include more government agencies, businesses, and citizens in 2017. Meng Jian, General Manager of China Power’s New Smart City Research Institute, expressed confidence in the future of the center. He emphasized the potential to export smart city solutions to countries along the Belt and Road Initiative, continuously evolving and improving the platform to meet global demands. In addition to the launch, the New Smart City Construction Enterprise Alliance Summit Forum was held on the same day. Industry experts and leaders engaged in discussions on challenges and solutions in smart city development, promoting stronger cooperation among alliance members and accelerating the progress of benchmark smart city projects.
