TDK launches new EPCOS film capacitors: miniaturized MKP series
The EPCOS MKP B3267*P* series from the TDK Group represents a significant advancement in film capacitor technology. These capacitors are designed with an ultra-compact form factor, making them ideal for space-constrained applications. For example, a 1 µF capacitor with a nominal DC voltage of 450 V has a remarkably small volume of just 8.0 x 17.5 x 13.0 mm³. This is a 40% reduction in size compared to previous models with a lead pitch of 15 mm, offering improved capacitance density and enhanced design flexibility.
The new product line offers three different lead spacing options: 10 mm, 15 mm, and 22.5 mm. It supports rated DC voltages of 450 V, 520 V, and 630 V, with capacitance values ranging from 68 nF to 2.2 µF. These capacitors are suitable for continuous operation at temperatures up to 125°C, ensuring reliable performance in demanding environments. The plastic housing meets UL 94 V-0 flammability standards and is available in halogen-free versions upon request, making it an environmentally friendly option.
This series of high-performance film capacitors is widely used in various power electronics applications, including ballasts, passive power factor correction circuits in LED power supplies, and switching power supplies. They are also commonly employed in output filtering to improve signal integrity and reduce noise.
