The Alps has developed the smallest detection switch in the industry, specifically designed for the SPVQ8 series of waterproof switches used in automotive and household appliances. This compact switch, with a size of 8.3mm x 5.3mm x 11.4mm, is ideal for detecting the opening, closing, and positioning of electrical components. It was launched into mass production in May 2013, offering a reliable solution for space-constrained applications.
To enhance safety and comfort, modern vehicles and home appliances increasingly rely on electronic components. However, as more parts are added to limited spaces—especially in the era of fuel-efficient cars—there is a growing demand for lighter and smaller components, including detection switches.
In some designs, the detection switch may need to be placed away from the main board, requiring a wiring harness. Even if the switch itself is waterproof, the exposed connector needs additional sealing, such as with resin adhesive. To address this, our product introduces a wire harness version of the SPVQ8 series, featuring a pre-waterproofed design that simplifies the customer’s assembly process.
This product maintains the industry's smallest size while adding a waterproof wire harness that meets the IP67 standard. The two-sided sliding contact design enhances reliability, even in environments with shocks and vibrations. It is suitable for use in automotive components like doors, seat belts, shift levers, and handlebars, as well as in household appliances and industrial equipment in kitchens and bathrooms.
The wire harness comes in both forward and lateral configurations, with a standard length of 250 mm and available in red and black. Custom color options are also possible to meet specific requirements.
IP67 refers to an international protection rating that indicates resistance to dust and water ingress. Specifically, it means the device can withstand immersion in water under certain pressure and time conditions without damage.
