Recently, in the first three quarters of this year, the electricity market transaction information was released. From January to September, the national power market traded power reached 515.699 billion kWh, a year-on-year increase of 15.67%. Among them, the UHV power transmission traded 103.422 billion kWh, an increase of 118.71%, accounting for 20% of the national power market trading power. In fact, reviewing the electricity market transaction data in recent years, the UHV transaction volume has increased significantly every year, and China’s UHV has entered a period of rapid development.

In January 2009, the first UHV AC transmission project independently developed and constructed in China—the 1000-kilovolt Jindongnan-Nanyang-Jingmen UHV AC pilot demonstration project passed trial operation. For more than five years, the project has continuously sent surplus thermal power from Shanxi to Central China, greatly reducing the burning of coal in Central China. When Fengshui season comes, the project can be transferred from Huazhong to North China to deliver electricity, transport the surplus water and power in Central China, and give full play to the functions of trans-regional optimization of resources allocation. This shows that the large-scale power grid can achieve mutual benefits and promote energy conservation and emission reduction. . In July 2010, the first UHV DC transmission project in China - Xiangjiaba - Shanghai ± 800 kv UHV DC transmission project was put into operation, and a large amount of Sichuan clean hydropower was also sent to East China every year.

At present, the State Grid Corporation of China has completed and put into operation the “two crossings and four straights” UHV project. The length of UHV lines under construction at the time of construction exceeds 10,000 kilometers, and the capacity of substation (conversion) is more than 100 million kVA (kW). These UHV lines took full advantage of long-distance and large-capacity power transmission and effectively promoted the large-scale optimal allocation of power transmission from west to east, from north to south, and from water and fire to energy resources, which not only helped promote the development of western China, The transformation of energy advantages in the northern region into economic advantages has also effectively eased the shortage of electricity and shortage of environmental capacity in the eastern and central regions.

At the beginning of this year, the State Grid Corporation of China successfully won the bid for the U.S. high-pressure delivery project in the beautiful mountains of Brazil. The UHV has officially gone abroad.

At the executive meeting of the State Council held in February this year, an important measure was proposed for the purpose of controlling haze and accelerating the adjustment of energy structure. The implementation of the “Trans-regional project for power transmission” was regarded as a top priority. In order to implement the Air Pollution Prevention Action Plan, the State has approved the construction of 12 cross-regional power transmission corridors. The State Grid Corporation’s “Four Cross and Four Straight” UHV projects are among them. The development of UHV has become an important part of the country’s strategy to address air pollution.

Today, the use of electricity for the majority of people in our country is as easy as breathing air. But now, perhaps you have discovered that many of the electricity you and I are using are transmitted from the UHV power grid thousands of miles away.
