Chapter 1 How to choose the signal line
First, what signal lines will be needed in ordinary home audio and video systems?
Since it has been positioned as "home", things like the balance line and the Canon equipment are not covered here.
In today's mainstream audio and video systems, we often use these signal lines:
Audio/video signal: HDMI cable
Audio signal: digital fiber line, digital coaxial line, analog audio line
Video signal: Component Video color difference / component line, S-Video S terminal line, Composite Video composite video line
Second, in different use occasions, how to choose these wires?
1. Transmit audio signal: HDMI > Fiber / Coaxial > Analog audio signal line
HDMI has a larger bandwidth and can transmit HD audio signals; fiber/coaxial can only transmit ordinary digital audio signals; and ordinary analog audio signals are susceptible to interference and poor transmission.

2. Transmission video signal: HDMI > Component color difference / component signal line > S-Video signal line > Composite composite video signal line
HDMI: Support 1080P full HD format;
Component Video color difference signal line: up to 720P HD format;
S-Video: only supports 480i
Composite Video composite signal line: only supports 240 lines of sharpness
Third, transmit video signals, connect different devices, what wire is preferred
1, Blu-ray player / PS3 / HD player / HTPC - Amplifier / TV / projector: HDMI
2, DVD player - amplifier / TV / projector: HDMI or color difference
3, HD TV set-top box - full HD TV (1080P): HDMI

The HDMI signal line on the market generally has two shapes: a flat wire body and a round wire body. The shape does not represent the quality of the signal line itself.

4. How to see the quality of the HDMI connector?
Looking at the connector below, can you see what is different?
Obviously, the joint on the left side is deep, the true copper contact end; and the joint on the right side is shallow, apparently iron-plated. The joint on the right side takes a little longer and will show significant oxidation, and the coating will soon be worn away.
But also pay attention: some cottage lines are more than enough in appearance, but the interior is still relatively garbage, the shielding layer is seriously shrunk.
