TDK high voltage DC contactor has a freewheeling capacity of up to 200A

The TDK Group has launched the new HVC200A bipolar high-voltage DC contactor, designed to safely and efficiently interrupt high DC voltages and currents. This contactor operates at up to 450VDC and can handle a freewheeling current of up to 200A. When disconnecting a DC load, the built-in arc extinguishing gas within the enclosed switch chamber ensures a fast and secure interruption, minimizing damage and improving system reliability. The HVC200A series is available in two models: B88269X1000C and B88269X1010C, with dimensions of 89mm × 44mm × 93.5mm (L × W × H). These models are tailored for 12V and 24V drive applications respectively, and both consume 6W at their rated voltage. Additionally, the contactors feature optional circuitry for monitoring the switch’s operational status, providing enhanced control and diagnostics. With its robust performance, the HVC200A is ideal for use in electric vehicles, where it can quickly isolate the battery from the driver or DC charging station. Beyond EVs, it also finds application in photovoltaic systems and uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), ensuring safe and reliable power management. TDK is currently expanding its product line for 12V and 24V driver applications, developing new contactors with freewheeling capabilities ranging from 100A to 500A and a maximum operating voltage of up to 900V. These will be used in critical areas such as battery isolation switches, onboard charging circuits, solar power stations, and UPS systems. Key features of the HVC200A include a high freewheeling capacity, rapid arc suppression, and optional switch state detection. These attributes make it a versatile and reliable solution for modern high-voltage DC systems. Whether in automotive, renewable energy, or industrial settings, the HVC200A sets a new standard for safety and performance in DC switching technology.
