Apple's new product launch event at the Steve Jobs Theater in Apple Park took place early on September 13th, and following that, Apple released the Apple Watch Series 3 and Apple TV 4K. The long-awaited iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and the groundbreaking iPhone X were officially unveiled during the event. The iPhone 8 starts at 5,888 yuan, the iPhone 8 Plus at 6,688 yuan, and the iPhone X begins at 8,388 yuan.
The iPhone 8 comes in two sizes: 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch Plus. It features a sleek double-glass design with a waterproof rating, available in gold, silver, and black. This model is powered by Apple’s most advanced A11 Bionic chip, which offers a 30% improvement in graphics performance and 70% faster multitasking compared to its predecessor.
In terms of photography, the iPhone 8 includes a 12-megapixel camera with a new "Portrait Lighting" feature that analyzes ambient light and enhances facial lighting in real time. It also supports 1080p video at 240fps slow motion and has improved low-light performance thanks to an upgraded ISP processor.
The iPhone 8 Plus boasts a dual-camera system with f/1.8 and f/2.8 apertures, offering better portrait mode capabilities and richer features. It also supports 1080p 240fps video recording. The new AR (Augmented Reality) features are fully supported, making the iPhone 8 the first smartphone designed for AR experiences.
Wireless charging is another major upgrade, with support for Qi technology. Users can simply place the phone on a wireless charging pad to charge it, and this feature is now widely available in many public places. Additionally, the iPhone 8 supports AirPods and Bluetooth 5.0.
The iPhone X, Apple’s flagship model, features a stunning 5.8-inch Super Retina display with a resolution of 2436×1125 and a pixel density of 458ppi. It introduces Face ID, a secure facial recognition system that uses over 30,000 points to map the user's face. Apple even tested it with Hollywood actors to ensure it can't be tricked by masks or wax figures. Face ID works even when the user is wearing glasses, hats, or changes their hairstyle.
The iPhone X also has a dual 12-megapixel camera with optical image stabilization, supporting 1080p 240fps video and improved battery life—adding up to 2 hours more than previous models. It starts at 8,388 yuan for the 64GB version and 9,688 yuan for the 256GB variant. Pre-orders began on September 15, with general availability starting on September 22, while the iPhone X will be available from October 27, with full sales beginning on November 3.
