Super robot warehouse upgrade immediately accelerate the intelligent development of logistics

On October 17, the Cainiao Network, a leading logistics platform under Alibaba, unveiled its flagship robotic warehouse in Huiyang, Guangdong. This advanced facility is capable of processing over one million packages in a single day, marking a major step forward in automated logistics. As the "Double 11" shopping festival approaches, Cainiao plans to launch robotic warehouses across multiple regions, including Shanghai, Tianjin, Zhejiang, Hubei, and more. These facilities will leverage automated assembly lines, AGV robots, and robotic arms, all driven by intelligent algorithms to boost efficiency and support large-scale operations. Last year, Cainiao introduced a super-robotic warehouse in Jiaxing and Haining, which has since been upgraded ahead of this year’s "Double 11." The Jiaxing facility now operates with a fully integrated robotic production system. Additionally, the company is upgrading its large-scale robotic warehouses in Hangzhou and Fengxian, Shanghai, aiming to enhance delivery speed and streamline operations in the Yangtze River Delta region. With the upcoming "Double 11," the demand for efficient logistics is expected to surge dramatically. In July, Cainiao launched a robotic warehouse in Huiyang, but it was only able to handle regular peak orders at the time. According to the State Post Bureau, logistics orders during this year's event are projected to reach new record levels. Manual labor alone won't be sufficient, making smart logistics essential. This year's "Double 11" will see significant changes, particularly with the shift from isolated robotic warehouses to widespread application. While many companies are experimenting with smart and unmanned warehouses, most are still in early testing phases. However, Cainiao has already established the world’s largest network of operational robotic warehouses. Meanwhile, JD Logistics has also made significant progress in robotic storage. Following the opening of unmanned warehouses in Wuhan and Kunshan, and the launch of an AGV warehouse in North China, JD unveiled its first full-process unmanned warehouse in Shanghai on October 9. Spanning 40,000 square meters, the facility includes four key systems: receiving, storage, order picking, and packing. It features six-axis robotic arms used for storage, packing, mixing pallets, and sorting. Both Cainiao and JD Logistics are investing heavily in intelligent warehouse technologies, including visual recognition, deep learning, and autonomous AGV scheduling. This time, Cainiao collaborated with warehouse operators and technology firms like Collar Technology and Fast Warehouse to upgrade the Huiyang robotic warehouse. According to Cainiao’s tech experts, the Huiyang warehouse was built entirely by robots. They underwent deep learning and operated in an empty space. Once the basic infrastructure was in place, the robots could autonomously complete the entire construction process. Looking back, in 2016, when "Santongyida" (a logistics company) went public, "intelligence" was a key focus of fundraising. Today, with leaders like Cainiao and JD Logistics driving innovation, the express logistics sector has made substantial strides in automation. This year, Yuantong Express plans to introduce automated assembly lines in its Shanghai transit center, while Yunda announced a plan to raise 4.517 billion yuan for investments in intelligent warehouses and transshipment centers. Additionally, SF Express has set up a drone demonstration base in Ganzhou, Jiangxi, and received official approval. The company revealed that drones will play a larger role in logistics transportation rather than the last mile. With many remote areas lacking proper road infrastructure, SF is focusing on developing long-range drones capable of flying over 100 kilometers and carrying more than 100 kilograms. These drones aim to improve delivery coverage in county and township areas, further expanding the company’s reach.
