On October 12th, the Changhong CHiQ TV Q5K launch event will take place at the Chengdu 321 Cultural Industry Park. As the world’s first voice recognition AI TV, the Q5K marks a significant milestone in the evolution of smart TVs, ushering them into the AI 3.0 era. This innovative device can recognize the voices of every family member and offer personalized content recommendations tailored to individual preferences.

At the same time, during the event, the world's first personal smart TV technology system was introduced. This groundbreaking system enhances interaction, learning, and adaptability in smart TVs, enabling seamless integration with other smart devices. It aims to deliver increasingly intelligent and convenient services that cater to user needs.
Voiceprint recognition is one of the key features of this new technology. Imagine being blindfolded and hearing a familiar voice behind you—it instantly helps you identify who it is. In a family setting, when both a child and a parent say, “I want to watch TV,†the smart TV can differentiate between them and provide appropriate content. This capability is akin to Jarvis from Iron Man, who recognizes users by their voice and responds accordingly.
Changhong has applied advanced I-vector technology to model voiceprints, creating a unique database for each family member. This allows for quick and accurate identification, with an accuracy rate exceeding 90%. According to Wen Lei, a researcher at Tsinghua University’s Virtual Reality and AI Institute, this technology not only enhances user experience but also improves security and convenience in home environments.
Developing such a high-accuracy system was no easy task. The project team faced challenges like limited voice data and a lack of prior expertise in voice-related algorithms. To overcome these, team members spent hours collecting voice samples daily, repeatedly shouting commands to build a robust dataset. With enough data, the algorithm design became more refined, and after months of collaboration across time zones, the system was successfully deployed.
Self-learning is a core feature of AI. As more data is collected, the voiceprint recognition model continuously updates, making the TV more attuned to its users over time. Combined with a content retrieval system, the CHiQ TV can deliver personalized video recommendations tailored to each user—effectively achieving the “Thousand People, Thousand Views†concept.
In July of last year, Changhong launched the world’s first AI TV, marking a turning point for the global television industry. Since then, the company has focused on advancing AI technology, integrating it into products, and promoting continuous upgrades. This has led to a flourishing smart TV market, with companies like Xiaomi, Leshi, Hisense, Skyworth, and TCL all investing heavily in AI and big data.
As the leader in AI TV, Changhong aims to provide increasingly intelligent products and personalized services. According to Li Wei, General Manager of Sichuan Changhong Electric Co., Ltd., the company is committed to maximizing value through the integration of “product + service + content.â€
The newly launched personal smart TV technology system is built on a powerful data platform, incorporating semantic understanding, recommendation, and data mining algorithms. It supports multiple connection protocols, allowing seamless interaction with other smart devices. This opens up new possibilities for smart living, offering users more intelligent and convenient experiences.
According to Chen Keyu, the product manager of CHiQ TV, the system includes hardware, algorithms, a data platform, and media resources. The integrated array microphone allows for voice collection up to 5 meters away, supporting functions like switching channels, on-demand videos, and reminders. With tens of thousands of labels, the system can perform accurate searches and error corrections, enhancing the overall interactive experience.
Fuzzy search and accurate error correction are crucial for user satisfaction. For example, if a user says “Dakang Secretary,†the system might play “In the Name of the People.†Similarly, if someone says “Beijing hits Seattle,†the system can automatically correct it to “Beijing Meets Seattle,†reducing confusion and increasing usability.
Guan Yixuan, a renowned economist, praised the Q5K as a breakthrough in AI technology, setting a new benchmark for smart TVs. He noted that Changhong’s innovation not only elevates China’s technological standing but also expands the potential of traditional TV markets, redefining how people interact with entertainment in their homes.
