Philips Illumination Spotlight for F1 Singapore Night Race

Royal Philips Electronics of the Netherlands announced that Valerio Maioli SpA, an Italian consulting company designated by Singapore GP Pvt. Ltd., has selected its lighting floodlights to illuminate the night of the Singapore Formula 1 car race on September 28, 2008. This is the first time the F1 car race was held at night. The International Automobile Federation (FIA) agrees with Valerio Maioli's design, which is designed to meet strict safety standards.

Philips and Valerio Maioli are working together on the project to jointly develop a specialized optical system for the product. Mr. Maioli chose this type of floodlight because its lighting intensity at night is almost white and can provide a safe environment for the driver on the track, even at speeds exceeding 300 kilometers per hour. Developed by Valerio Maioli engineers, this lighting system can achieve glare avoidance by projecting light at various angles rather than from vertical angles. This lighting system also protects against glare in wet weather conditions while providing safe driving conditions for the driver. In addition, Philips Lighting Floodlights also meet the standards for high definition television (HDRV) broadcasts, which also provide an exciting experience for players on the track and TV viewers at home.

In March 2007, in support of the night race, Bernie Ecclestone, CEO of Formula One, commissioned Valerio Maioli to develop a lighting system for Formula One racing. After a series of tests throughout Europe, including tests by Formula One race experts such as Renault test driver Nelson Piguqet Jr, Mr. Maioli handed over his project to the International Automobile Federation (FIA) Safety Committee.

When talking about this project, Mr. Maioli said: In order for the International Automobile Federation to approve the night race, the most important thing is to propose the solution to meet the most stringent safety requirements, but also to give the driver, the audience and the broadcast company the best. Experience. Philips is the natural choice for its success on the sports arena.

Rudy Provoost, CEO of Philips Lighting Group, said: In order to fulfill the dreams of many racing drivers, we are honored to participate in the development of innovative lighting design, which enables people to enjoy more from this thrilling sport. . We are happy to support Valerio Maioli in using our lighting system in Formula One racing because it not only enhances the visibility of the sport, it also makes it safer and more exciting.

The Singapore Marina Bay Raceway is equipped with 1500-inch illuminated floodlights that illuminate the 5.067-kilometer track with a 4x higher brightness than the night football field. Since the track is a highway lane, the lighting system is only temporarily used. The height of the luminaire will change to suit the trees on the side of the road. Some lights are also deliberately installed below the canopy and do not interfere with underground public facilities such as water gas pipes and cables.
