IDC pointed out that in the past few years, the software industry has continued to shift to cloud-first development and deployment. By 2018, most software vendors will be fully transferred to SaaS and PaaS. When enterprises need to update their software in the future, the priority is SaaS, which will expand the scale of public cloud customers.

Market research firm IDC pointed out in the recently published report on the global public cloud expenditure guide that global public cloud spending will have an annual growth rate of 19.4% by 2019, and in 2018, most software suppliers will be fully transferred to Software as a Service (SaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS) models.

IDC estimates that global public cloud spending will double from $70 billion in 2015 to $141 billion in 2019, with a compound annual growth rate of 19.4%, which is six times the overall IT growth rate.

The most important mode is SaaS, which accounts for about 2/3 of all public cloud expenditures. However, the growth rate of IaS and PaaS will reach 27% and 30.6% respectively in the past few years, surpassing the growth rate of SaaS. .

IDC chief analyst Frank Gens said that the software industry has continued to shift to cloud-first development and deployment over the past few years. By 2018, most software vendors will be fully transferred to SaaS and PaaS. This means that many enterprise software customers will be faced with SaaS when they want to update their software in the future. Whether it is the birth of a new cloud solution or the transfer of traditional solutions to the cloud, the scale of public cloud customers will be expanded.

Among the $70 billion in public cloud spending in 2015, the top three major customers in the Americas and EMEA markets were manufacturing, finance and professional services, with expenditures of $8.6 billion, $6.8 billion and $6.6 billion, respectively. It is estimated that the ranking in 2019 will be changed to manufacturing, professional services and finance. However, the situation in the Asia-Pacific market is somewhat different. The telecommunications industry is the second largest customer of public cloud services in the market in 2015, and will be the largest customer in 2019.

In addition, of the $114 billion in public cloud spending in 2019, $80 billion will come from large companies.
