European Parliament likes to split Google business

On November 28, Beijing time, the European Parliament voted on the split Google initiative on Thursday and voted in favour of splitting Google’s search industry proposal, hoping that anti-monopoly agencies in the European Union will take more stringent measures against Google and other Internet search engines. .

It is understood that the European Parliament voted 384 votes in total and 174 votes. Ramon Tremosa, the co-sponsor of the split Google proposal, said on Twitter: "The European Parliament passed the motion with an overwhelming majority of votes, including splitting search engines if necessary."

The European Parliament proposed that the European Commission consider this resolution to split the search engine search business from other businesses. Although the resolution passed by the European Parliament is not legally binding, it will put additional pressure on EU antitrust agencies, including the newly appointed anti-trust commissioner Margrethe Vestager.

It is understood that Google is Europe's largest search service provider with a market share of about 90%. For the European Parliament’s voting decision, the technology and lobby group “Computer and Communications Industry Association” (CCIA for short, including Google, eBay, Facebook, Microsoft, and Samsung, etc.) stated that spin-off was an “extreme and difficult to implement” solution. It is not reasonable in the rapidly growing online market.

The association also said: "The resolution is obviously for Google. In fact, the European Parliament is suggesting that all search companies, or online companies with search capabilities, need to be split. Today, creating a digital single market, this is very worrying.
