Samsung, LG OLED technology leading competitors for 5 years

Guo Taiming, the chairman of Hon Hai Group, recently made a move to recruit Japan and Japan, but in the eyes of Korean experts, Samsung and LG, which have a first-mover advantage, will still dominate the OLED panel market in the next five years, regardless of how China and Japan actively invest in OLED panels.

OLED is not only flexible, but also has many characteristics such as lightness and power saving. As the demand for OLED panels increases, both sides of the Taiwan Straits and Japanese panel factories are competing for each other. For example, Hon Hai’s Sharp is planning to sell 1.3 trillion yuan. The South Korean won contends for Apple's OLED orders. The Chinese panel maker BOE, with government support, plans to invest 8 trillion won, hoping to mass-produce OLED panels in 2019.

Despite this, the advantages of Samsung and LG technology can be surpassed in the short term. Lee Chang-hee, professor of OLED at Seoul NaTIonal University, points out that Hanwon is leading the way in both planar and flexural OLED mobile and TV panels. Competitors for at least 5 years.

Kim Hyun-jae, professor of electrical engineering at Yonsei University, further predicts that it will take at least four years for China to develop OLED panels to become a climate; as the Japanese factory does not reach economic scale, it may be difficult to survive in the OLED market.

Samsung is currently the biggest beneficiary of the increased demand for OLEDs, with a market share of 95% for OLED panels for smartphones. In addition, Apple's next-generation iPhone 8 models may use OLED panels, and Samsung is also a major supplier.
