2017 China IoT Technology Innovation Award nomination: Nordic Semiconductor nRF52810

On June 8th, Nordic Semiconductor held a press briefing on the first day of CES Asia 2017, officially launching the new nRF52810 — a cost-effective addition to its nRF52 system-on-chip (SoC) family. As the most affordable Bluetooth 5 solution available, the nRF52810 is designed to bring advanced wireless capabilities to a broader range of applications. Bluetooth 5 introduces significant improvements, including double the data transfer speed compared to Bluetooth Low Energy v4.2 (up to 2 Mbps), as well as enhanced broadcast capabilities that offer eight times more performance. The nRF52810 not only supports these features but also breaks through the traditional cost barriers associated with Bluetooth 5, making it accessible for entry-level projects. It was even recognized with the 2017 China IoT Technology Innovation Award for its outstanding performance and versatility. The nRF52810 uses the same 100dBm link budget 2.4GHz multi-protocol radio found in the nRF52832 SoC, along with a powerful 64MHz 32-bit ARM Cortex-M4 microcontroller. This combination ensures high performance while maintaining compatibility with other nRF52 series chips. The device includes 196KB of flash memory and 24KB of RAM, which is sufficient for running typical high-throughput, low-cost applications. It also supports over-the-air firmware updates (OTA-DFU), allowing for easy maintenance and upgrades. Additionally, the nRF52810 is compatible with the nRF52 Development Kit and can use the S132 protocol stack, which supports up to 20 simultaneous connections. Developers can leverage the nRF5 SDK to create robust and scalable applications. This makes it an ideal choice for a wide range of products, from IoT sensors and beacons to low-cost wearables, wireless peripherals, and even disposable medical devices. Nordic Semiconductor has long been a leader in ultra-low-power wireless communication technologies, supporting Bluetooth, ANT+, and 2.4GHz applications across various industries such as IoT, wearables, smart homes, and more. The 2017 China IoT Conference, hosted by Huaqiang Jufeng’s Million Electronic Engineer Platform, brought together over 6,000 attendees and featured 100+ global companies. The event aimed to foster collaboration, showcase cutting-edge technologies, and explore market opportunities within the IoT ecosystem. With sessions covering topics like AI, security, power management, and smart cities, the conference provided a valuable platform for industry leaders and innovators. The event took place in Shenzhen, China, from December 6–7, 2017, and included awards ceremonies, networking events, and strategic discussions. Nominations were open for several awards, including the China IoT New CEO Award, Technology Innovation Award, and Product Golden Lion Award, with deadlines set for September 30th.
