The Ministry of Culture has issued a full-scale opening of the domestic game console market!
On January 29, 2014, the State Council issued a paper notice to allow the mainland gaming machine market that had been sealed for more than 10 years to take the lead in reopening to the Shanghai Free Trade Zone.

The Ministry of Culture recently announced on the official website the notice issued on June 24 of this year regarding the permitting of domestic and foreign-funded enterprises to engage in the production and sale of game amusement equipment (hereinafter referred to as "notice", click here to view full text), which clearly states that it will be published in 20156. On the 30th of the month, the experience of manufacturing and sales of games/entertainment equipment in the Shanghai Free Trade Zone will be extended nationwide.
According to the notice, game entertainment equipment refers to electronic and mechanical devices that provide game content and game processes to consumers through special equipment, including electronic game machines used in business premises, and electronic game machines and handheld devices used in conjunction with television receiver devices. Electronic games and the like do not include game play equipment for export sales.
The domestic and foreign-funded enterprises engaged in the production and sale of game amusement equipment referred to in the notice refer to enterprises that are legally registered with the administrative department for industry and commerce and whose business scope includes the production or sales of game amusement equipment and have independent legal personality.
Analysts believe that the Ministry of Culture’s notice not only further loosened the production and sales policies for domestic games/entertainment equipment, but also clarified the government's direction of encouragement, which is conducive to domestic game companies in formulating the next phase of the software and hardware product strategy.
This year's ChinaJoy exhibition plan is officially opened at the end of this month. It is believed that with the support of the policy, this year's exhibition will present a large number of new works.
