Introduction to the performance and storage of zinc-air battery

The negative electrode of zinc-air battery is mainly composed of zinc powder, thickener and KOH solution containing zinc oxide. The manufacturing process is similar to the production process of negative electrode zinc paste for alkaline manganese batteries.

Description of battery assembly process: The positive electrode active material of zinc-air battery is oxygen in the air. When the battery is working, oxygen enters the battery through the vent hole. When the supply of oxygen is insufficient, the battery will be weak. In order to ensure the normal use of the battery, the number and size of ventilation holes must be considered in the design. The conductive mesh mainly plays the role of current collection, conduction and uniform gas dispersion. In the selection, the electrical conductivity, thickness and density of the conductive mesh are considered, so that the oxygen in the air can be evenly dispersed on the composite membrane and has good current collection effect.

The battery separator adopts a composite film of a layer of PE and a layer of PP, and the automotive lubricant is treated with 100e to improve its safety performance. After the conductive mesh, composite membrane and diaphragm paper are placed in sequence, apply a layer of sealing glue evenly around the diaphragm paper to prevent the electro-hydraulic from seeping out. In order to prevent battery leakage and alkali crawling, the seal ring must be glued, and controlling the viscosity of the sealant is the key. If the viscosity is too small, it will affect the distribution of the sealant on the sealing ring and affect the sealing performance; if the viscosity is too large, it will affect the assembly of the battery. The solvent used to prepare the sealant is generally a more volatile organic solvent, such as gasoline flowmeters such as kerosene and gasoline. In the process of adding zinc paste, the zinc paste should not be allowed to touch the sealing ring, otherwise the KOH has strong permeability and will leave alkali marks on the sealing ring, which will affect the sealing performance of the battery after being snapped on. When the battery is sealed, the pressure is generally maintained for 24 minutes to eliminate the stress of the steel shell and ensure the sealing effect.

Zinc-air batteries require oxygen when they are working, but when not working, the presence of oxygen will seriously shorten the life of the battery. If the zinc-air battery is placed directly in the air, the battery capacity will decrease by 35.2% after 1 week. The prepared zinc-air battery must be sealed and stored intact, that is, the ventilation holes are sealed off from the atmosphere.
